NAME: (please print) ADDRESS: CITY: MN ZIP: OFFICE SOUGHT: LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT # Abortion Rights Council Political Action Committee of Minnesota, ARC-PAC of MN, was established in 1982 for the sole purpose of electing Pro-Choice Candidates to the Minnesota Legislature. By agreeing to the following principles of ARC-PAC of MN, your candidacy will be considered for endorsement and financial support by the PAC Board of Directors. As a candidate, I support the following positions with respect to reproductive rights issues. I understand that by agreeing to the following principles that this will not be interpreted as a promise for votes on specific bills but as a statement of my present thinking. · I am Pro-Choice. I believe that women, not the government, must make the most personal decision of whether or not to bear a child. · I agree with the original interpretation of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which stated that: In the first trimester of pregnancy the state may not interfere with a woman's right to choose an abortion; and in the second trimester the state may take action to protect the woman seeking an abortion; and post viability, the state may pass laws to balance the rights of the woman and the fetus. · I oppose all legislative attempts to declare the fetus a person, thereby making abortion murder and denying women the right to control their bodies. · I oppose all legislative attempts to impose a state mandate on a physician and/or clinic which would restrict, delay, criminalize, or instill reporting requirements that infringe on the patient's and/or physician's right to privacy regarding abortion procedures. · I oppose all legislative attempts to treat abortion differently from other legal medical procedures, or would treat abortion providers differently from other medical providers. · I support Minnesota legislative action to reaffirm the Constitutional protection of Roe v. Wade in Minnesota. · I support the repeal of the current two-parent notification law that requires a minor to notify both biological parents in order to have an abortion. · I support legislation to comprehensively address the prevention of unintended pregnancies, which would include, emergency contraception, accurate sex education, and access to affordable and confidential family planning services statewide. This would emphasize male responsibility, birth control, and the prevention of teen pregnancy. · I support the right of physician's to choose the abortion method most appropriate for their patient. · I support legislation requiring pharmacies to fill all prescriptions for birth control including emergency contraception’s. · I support the Minnesota Supreme Court decision restoring Medicaid abortion funding for all women with lower incomes and I oppose legislative attempts to overturn this decision.
